Applications to Waive Greens Fees at Whaling City Golf Course Due This Week to Parks, Recreation and Beaches

Nonprofit organizations seeking to hold a tournament this summer at Whaling City Golf Course have one week left to submit their application for a waiver of greens fees, the City’s Department of Parks, Recreation and Beaches announced.

Applications are due to the department by Friday, March 11, and will be reviewed March 16 at the Board of Park Commissioners’ monthly meeting. Organizations are encouraged to apply, with the stipulation that selected tournaments held on weekdays will not have food obligations required at the golf course. Weekend tournaments, if selected, will require a food concession agreement.

In addition to completing the application, all applicants are required to describe their organization’s mission, their impact on the community, and how the profits from the tournament will be used. All events will be subject to COVID-19 guidelines as determined by the City’s Health Department.

Applications can be requested by calling (508) 961-3015 or emailing infoPRB@newbedford-ma.gov. All applications must be submitted to the New Bedford Parks, Recreation & Beaches office by email, mail or fax:
