The New Bedford Parks & Recreation Department is dedicated to planning, implementing, and supervising Recreational and Cultural activities deemed appropriate to insure the proper and constructive use of leisure time by the residents of New Bedford and to provide safe, well-maintained, and aesthetic parks, playgrounds, and outdoor recreation facilities.

Field Assignments

Goals: To encourage & promote constructive use of leisure time by the city's adults, adults with special needs, & youth on a year round basis; To plan & supervise a series of special events & activities for residents; To restore & upgrade Park Department facilities & improve the quality of playground equipment at the Park Department facilities; and To beautify parks, squares & memorials.
